Two more weekends of events to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary are on tap this month. Friday, July 17 The musical “Crickets on a Hill,” which opened July 2 continues this weekend. Shows will be held Friday and Saturday, July 17 and 18, at 7 p.m., and Sunday, July 19, at 3 p.m. All performances will be in the Harry M. Ward Auditorium at Mathews High School. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students, available online at courthouseplayers.org/crickets-2026 and at the door. Sunday, July 19 Abingdon Episcopal Church, 4645 George Washington Memorial Highway, White Marsh, will have a reading of the Declaration of Independence on Sunday, July 19. Abingdon Episcopal Church’s rector, the Rev. Sven vanBaars, said that John Page of Rosewell, Virginia statesman and Abingdon member, wrote a letter on July 20, 1776 to his close friend and college classmate.
