A town hall, moderated by Pastor Patrick Billups, was held Tuesday night to give Mathews County residents a better idea of the issues surrounding a referendum on this year’s ballot to create a 1 percent sales tax in the county. Revenues would be dedicated to eligible construction, major renovation and modernization projects for Mathews County Public Schools. About 20-30 people attended Tuesday’s town hall meeting, which was held in the Brooks Auditorium at the Thomas Hunter Education Center, with two school board members and two county supervisors sharing the main table, along with Superintendent of Schools Dr. David S. Daniel and County Administrator Ramona Wilson. Daniel gave a brief presentation to start the meeting.
