A feral cat found on Sept. 4 on Maryus Road in Gloucester has tested positive for the rabies virus, and the Three Rivers Health District is asking that anyone who handled the cat or has information about exposure contact the Gloucester County Health Department. Exposure to the virus would involve being bitten or scratched by the cat or coming into contact with its saliva by an open wound or through the eyes, nose, or mouth, said a press release. Exposure could also include direct contact between a pet or other animals and the cat. Call 804-693-6130 to report any of the above.
