The Mathews Rotary Club’s eighth annual Rockfish Tournament will be held this Saturday and Sunday at Morningstar Marina/Gwynn’s Island.
Participants can choose to fish one or both days; only the heaviest catches will be eligible for prizes.  The Captain’s Night Registration & Raffle will be held from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the Piankatank Ruritan Club building in Hudgins. All captains must attend; refreshments will be provided. Participants may bring their own bottles. Registration is $150 per boat for four anglers, $25 per additional angler with a 50-boat limit.
This year, the club is offering $4,000 in guaranteed cash prizes. The heaviest fish wins; length breaks a tie. First place will win $2,000; $1,000 for second place; $700 for third place. Senior, youth and women’s divisions win $100 each.
A weigh station will be set up at Morningstar Marina and will be open from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, with awards to be presented at 5 p.m.
