Jason Williams of Mathews, is in the process of rebuilding his garage. Currently, the roof leaks, the garage door does not function correctly and the dirt floor soils everything placed inside of it. Previous residents—termites—have also made the structure unstable. The current goal is to level the garage, pour a slab and place a custom steel building in its stead.

Ellen Satchell of Gloucester, remodeled her dated kitchen in spring 2019 at her home, located on Deer Run Drive. The remodel involved new flooring, cabinets, granite countertops, a paint job, title backsplash, sink, appliances, light fixtures and a garden window. The entire project was completed in two months.

Two years ago at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Tracey Crowder of Gloucester and her family built a large deck on their Main Street home for her 50th birthday. The whole family, even family dog “Martini,” helped with the project.

Michael and Madeline LeSage recently modernized their bathroom at the couple’s new home in New Point, “The Cottage.” The old bathroom was dated and in need of serious renovations, especially since it is the only full bathroom in the home. Michael started demo work just days after closing on the house and Madeline and her father tiled the bathroom.

With the start of the new season, Sterling Foster and Amanda Rodriguez of Hickory Fork Road, Gloucester, decided to change the floors in the majority of their house that they moved into a year ago. With two large dogs, the couple had trouble keeping the carpet clean. They installed laminate in their home after ripping up the carpet.

Robyn Parlett Crossley of Gloucester Point has reorganized and upgraded her three-year-old son’s bedroom and closet to make them more functional and easier for him to play. She added three IKEA storage pieces so his toys and craft supplies are more accessible. The tops of the storage pieces also allows for open play space for his trucks and blocks. Crossley also rearranged the furniture in his room so he can have a more dedicated play space for his ball pit.

Susan Eaton, Gloucester High School varsity basketball coach and driver’s education teacher, has been wanting to build a deck in her backyard at her Lancaster home since the COVID-19 pandemic began. However, the price of lumber has derailed this project. A few weeks ago, she built a fire pit, pictured at left, which will be located just beyond the deck. Currently, Eaton and her husband are pricing lumber for their deck as well as completing designs. Beyond needing a deck, the couple will need additional landscaping, including a walkway, grass and plants. The planned walkway location is pictured at right.
