GHS golfers still dominating district

Gloucester High School golfers continue to dominate Peninsula District play and have now won four out of five PD matches with one second-place finish. Four matches remain on the schedule and the Dukes have amassed a lead of over 60 strokes.

Zack Robb led the PD field at the Piankatank River Golf Club on Tuesday with a medalist round of 78. Trevor Rudisill was next for Gloucester with an 84 and Grinnan Haskins and Zack Kounse posted scores of 86 each for a winning team total of 334. Woodside was second but GHS coach Jerry Morgan said scores were not complete when he left the course.

The Gloucester golfers also won at Kiskiack on Aug. 25, led by Robb with a 77. Haskins and Rudisill tied with 78 each and Tyler Foster and Larry Brown had scores of 86. Ryan McLean of Denbigh High School was the medalist with a 72. Gloucester had a team score of 319, followed by Woodside with 331.
