Wine fest attracts big crowds

More than 2,000 people enjoyed the perfect weather, 13 wineries and a number of other vendors at Saturday’s Gloucester Wine Festival, which was held at Brent and Becky’s Bulbs, Ware Neck.

“It literally went off without a hitch,” said Gloria Williams, executive director of the Gloucester Chamber of Commerce. The wine festival is a major fundraiser for the chamber. “We are just elated with how the event went,” she added.

According to Williams, 90+ volunteers gave their time leading up to and during Saturday’s event. “I really think these people believe in and applaud what the festival does for Gloucester tourism and how it showcases Gloucester and its industries,” she said.

This year, the chamber had set up a special “food garden” for restaurants and other food vendors. “This was really a hit,” she said, adding that several vendors that day told her they had sold out of a number of their food features.
