Thrifty Spot to celebrate fourth anniversary

Four years after opening its doors for the first time, the thrift store not only has helped numerous Mathews High School special education students gain practical work skills and experience, it has also taught a lesson or two in how to create a successful school-community partnership.

The Thrifty Spot, which is located near the intersection of Cricket Hill and Buckley Hall roads at Hudgins, will celebrate its fourth anniversary from 10 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, Dec. 10.

The public is invited to join store staff, customers and community donors in recognizing the work, dedication and contributions that have made the store a productive and sustainable business venture.

Birthday cake, punch and discount tickets will be available. There will also be a drawing for a print, donated for the occasion by the P. Buckley Moss Society.
