School brief

Jen Wroten of Mathews, a rising freshman at Christopher Newport University, has been awarded a $500 Regional Scholarship from the H.U. Lee Memorial Foundation. The foundation was established in 1992 to honor Eternal Grand Master H.U. Lee, founder of the American Taekwondo Association. The foundation assists students who have exemplified skills obtained through the American Taekwondo Association by providing scholarships to assist with the costs of higher education. Selection criteria include academic performance, extracurricular activities, letters of recommendation, and an essay on perseverance. Wroten is a red belt at Hayes Black Belt Academy.
