The Guinea Jubilee, a Gloucester County institution for nearly a half century celebrating everything Guinea, will return to the Abingdon Ruritan Club grounds in Bena on Friday and Saturday. “It’s like a community reunion,” said Melissa Ashe, one of this year’s event coordinators. “It’s like going to Food Lion on a Sunday morning,” said Betty Lou Sammons, another event organizer. Sammons encouraged people to bring their kids and families; most everything is free. “It’s just a good time,” she said. Arts and craft vendors and food booths will open to the public at 3 p.m. Friday, with the opening ceremonies officially kicking off the celebration at 6 p.m. “That seemed to work really well” last year, said Melissa Ashe, one of this year’s event organizers.
