Public television crew films New Point Lighthouse

Maryland Public Television’s film crew visited New Point Comfort Lighthouse Friday for an upcoming documentary on the Lighthouses of the Chesapeake Bay.

Assisted by the Mathews County Visitor & Information Center, the crew was in town to film for MPT’s annual Chesapeake Bay Week, which will be in April 2020, said a press release from MCVIC Executive Director Emily Allen.

Every April, MPT celebrates the Chesapeake Bay and highlights the bay’s critical issues, natural resources, rich cultural fabric and heritage through special programs.

This year’s programs featured topics such as the Wild Ponies of Chincoteague, Saving Ellicott City, Chesapeake Bay Bridge, and the “Legacy of Gilbert Klingel: Man of Steel”—a documentary about the Gwynn’s Island naturalist, boat builder, author and photographer.
