GHS cross country teams defeat Phoebus

The Gloucester boys and girls earned decisive cross country wins in a Peninsula District dual meet with Phoebus at Beaverdam on Oct. 19. The GHS boys showed impressive depth, with five runners finishing the 5K course in under 18 minutes and seven others coming in under the 19-minute mark.

Kevin Speray paced the pack with a time of 17:20, followed by Logan Pitchford in 17:35, Tyler Price in 17:37, Blake Waters in 17:43, Cameron Cross in 17:56 and Eric Speray in 18:16, taking first through sixth places. Adrian Garcia was eighth in 18:48.
The Lady Dukes also ran a strong team race, with Anna Robins winning by over a minute in 20:58. She was followed by Carrie Adams in third place in 22:41, Ashley Purrington in fourth in 23:11, Leah Procopi in fifth in 23:36 and Olivia Cross in sixth in 23:44. Alex Londonberg was eighth in 24 minutes and Kendall Webb rounded out the Gloucester top seven.
