Dukes fall to Patriots

Gloucester held an early lead Friday night in Todd Stadium but by the end of the football game it was Denbigh that prevailed, 27-13. 

The Dukes (0-6) took advantage of a Denbigh fumble on the Patriots’ first play and recovered the ball inside the 20-yard line. Gloucester headed for the goal line and Devon Pullen scored on a short run. With a good kick by Watkins Yeager, the Dukes went up 7-0 and took the lead into the second quarter.

Denbigh evened the scored in the second and went ahead in the third quarter with a second touchdown. The Gloucester offense got within scoring range in both periods but could not get the TD. 

“We had a field goal blocked, a touchdown called back. We were in the red zone twice and both times it was taken away,” said Gloucester coach Brandon Kelley. The team also had an interception called back.  The Dukes were still within striking distance of a tie but a Gloucester fumble was recovered by Denbigh and returned for another...
