Dukes beat Crabbers

For the second year in a row the Gloucester Dukes defeated the Hampton Crabbers on the gridiron, this time in a 20-12 homecoming game. With the win the Gloucester High School football team now moves to third place in the Peninsula District and find itself at 5-3 with a chance to win out and secure favorable playoff position.

In a game that ended up being a defensive struggle, Gloucester opened with a trick play that went the distance. Clay Guilliams lined up on the right side of the formation before the entire sideline and coaching staff began yelling, “Clay, get off the field! You’re not on!”

Guilliams ran as if he was trying to get off the field before quickly getting set on the far-left side of the formation and running upfield on the snap. QB Isaiah Lester looked right to draw the defense, who had not noticed Guilliams was still on the field, and floated the ball back to his now wide-open receiver for a touchdown pass.
