Deadline Tuesday to register to vote

The last day to register to vote for the Nov. 5 general election is Tuesday by 4:30 p.m. This is also the deadline for voters to make changes to their names or addresses to be eligible to vote in that election. Polls will be open Nov. 5 from 6 a.m. until 7 p.m. in both Gloucester and Mathews.

Absentee voting is available in registrar offices in both counties during regular office hours. Both counties’ registrar offices will be open for special hours Saturdays Oct. 26 and Nov. 2 leading up to the election. Nov. 2 is the last day for voters to cast an absentee ballot.

The last day to request an absentee ballot by mail is Oct. 29. “Don’t wait,” said Bobbi Morgan, Gloucester’s voter registrar. “If you qualify for an absentee ballot, please request one now.”
