The Gloucester Citizens for Accountable Government, a group of private Gloucester citizens concerned about the country, will host the first in a series of public forums on Tuesday leading up to the Nov. 5 general election.
This forum, which will include candidates in contested local races, is scheduled to be held from 7 to 9:45 p.m. in the colonial courthouse.
According to group spokesperson Howard Mowry, the Gloucester Citizens coalesced in 2015 as a group of private Gloucester citizens concerned about the country. “We saw the need for an independent and unbiased venue where citizens could determine the positions of county candidates in competitive political races on issues of importance to them,” Mowry said.
That group concluded that this need would best be met by a public meeting where citizens could directly ask their questions of the candidates without any filtering by various interest groups, and receive direct responses from the candidates. “We determined to...
