“Let me be the first to say, congratulations to you.” Gloucester High School principal Dr. Stefan Mygas welcomed graduates and their families to the GHS mid-year commencement program last Wednesday, Jan. 31, in the GHS auditorium. “This is a big moment,” said Mygas. “It’s a big deal.” Mygas encouraged the graduates to take their time crossing the stage and allow their loved ones to come up and snap photos during their student’s moment. “I’m really proud of your achievements,” said superintendent of schools Dr. Anthony Vladu. “My goal tonight is to simply honor you and your families.” Vladu told the graduates that in several years they may not remember the quadratic formula, unless they are a mathematician, or who Edgar Allan Poe was, unless they are a writer, but they must always remember how to learn. “That’s what education does,” said Vladu. “It opens your mind.” Before the conferring of diplomas, Gloucester County School Board chair Troy Andersen said, “Congratulations to this group...
