Work starts next week on Edgehill intersection

Work begins next Wednesday, Sept. 9, at the busy intersection of Routes 17 Business with Route 3/14 on Main Street in Gloucester Court House, an intersection known as Edgehill for generations.

The work by the Virginia Department of Transportation, scheduled to last into February of next year, will add dual turn lanes from both directions of Route 17 Business, which is Main Street, onto 3/14, and a dual left turns southbound from Route 3/14 southbound onto Route 17. Daily traffic at that intersection in 2019 was 27,500 vehicles.

This is one of three projects on Main Street.

This week, work is underway to place flashing yellow advance warning lights and signs near the Main Street intersection with Route 629, T.C. Walker Road. Darragh Frye of VDOT said the signs will read “Vehicles Entering Highway” with flashing yellow lights on top of the sign and with a smaller sign, “When Flashing.”
