On Jan. 3, 2022, the gentle living soul of Wilson Marvin Urrutia, age 62, departed this earth, listening to Lynyrd Skynyrd with his sister by his side. He resided in Gloucester Point, born and raised in Newport News, Va., by the late Wilson and Margery Jean Ball Urrutia. He graduated from Warwick High School Class of 1978 and was a member of the Golf and Chess teams, where he made and kept great friends. He loved to fish every chance he got and loved the water, mainly working on tugboats, the Evelyn Doris and the Thomas Herbert. Another favorite pastime was camping and hunting. It has been nice having him close after he returned home from Arizona. He was a friendly, down-to-earth guy who would give the shirt of his back to anyone. We are going to miss him. Marvin is survived by his sister and her husband of Gloucester, Lynn Onesty (David), and his brother, Richard F. Urrutia-Lane of Raleigh, N.C. The family received friends Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2022, from 6-7:30 p.m. at Hogg Funeral Home. Tentative inurnment will be held on April 1, 2022 at Peninsula Memorial Park. In memory of Marvin, please consider contributions to the Abingdon Ruritan Club, Charitable Associates, P.O. Box 22, Bena, Va. 23018.
