WILLLIAM D. FARY JR.

Willliam D. Fary Jr. (Scooter) passed away at his home on Dec. 20, 2021 following a lengthy illness. Scooter was a Gloucester native, who graduated from Gloucester High School in 1974. He was blessed with good looks, natural musical and athletic abilities, as well as extraordinary intelligence and most of all, a great sense of humor. He easily made friends with everyone he met and was loved by many for his humor, dancing prowess, golfing talents and willingness to assist anyone who needed it.

Scooter was predeceased by his mother, Mary Curtis Thomas Fary, earlier this year and his son, Thomas Montgomery Pike Fary II. He is survived by his children, Trey Fary and wife Karin, Heather Keyes and fiancé James McDowell Jr., Tyler Fary and fiancée Hailey Russell, and four grandchildren. He is also survived by his father, William D. Fary Sr; his siblings, Billye Dalton and husband Michael, Tim Fary and wife Robin, Wanda Fary and Susan Finkel.

Visitation was held at Andrews Funeral Home, Gloucester, on Wednesday, Dec. 22 from 6:30-8 p.m. and a graveside service will be on Thursday, Dec. 23, 2021, at Olive Branch Methodist Church at 1 p.m.

The family would like to thank the Riverside Hospice program and especially Jessica O’Rourke, his aide, and Charlyn Hudson, his nurse, for their compassionate care of Scooter and his family caregivers as well.

In lieu of flowers, Scooter wished for donations to be sent to The Giving Garden Foundation or the Gloucester Mathews Care Clinic.
