Wicomico structure fire

A Wicomico family has been displaced after fire destroyed their home Sunday evening on Dog Town Lane. Five dogs that were inside the home perished during the blaze, according to Robert Parlett, spokesperson for the Abingdon Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad, which responded to the scene. He said when firefighters arrived on scene, the home had heavy smoke throughout it. Parlett said members of the Gloucester Sheriff’s Office assisted in minimizing the fire spreading by closing the doors of the burning structure. The home was deemed a total loss. The cause of the fire is under investigation. A GoFundMe page has been set up online to help the family and can be accessed by visiting www.gofundme.com/family-that-lost-house-in-fire.
