Who’s Who selection

L.T. Wells Jr. has been inducted last month into Marquis Who’s Who. Since 1899, when A.N. Marquis printed the first edition of Who’s Who in America, Marquis Who’s Who has chronicled the lives of the most accomplished individuals and innovators from every significant field of endeavor, including politics, business, medicine, law, education, art, religion and entertainment. A resident of Hayes for the past six decades, Wells has distinguished himself in multiple roles of civic leadership. Shortly after moving to Hayes in 1961, he was instrumental in chartering and organizing a chapter of the Jaycees. He also helped organize and charter the Abingdon Volunteer Rescue Squad and has been an active member of the Abingdon Ruritan Club, helping to organize the group’s famous Seafood Festival. Additionally, he played a major role in converting the C.B. Rowe & Son General Store into the Buck’s Store Museum, just a few of his many and varied contributions to the community.
