Ware Neck commercial development on planners’ agenda

The Gloucester Planning Commission will get a first look tonight at a proposed new commercial development in Ware Neck. Planners will meet at 7 o’clock in the historic courthouse.

Applicants Kerry and Tusnee McDaniel are seeking to rezone their 8.86-acre parcel from RC-2 (Rural Conservation) to B-4 (Rural Business).

If approved, their application would allow for four retail shops to be built on what is currently a wooded, vacant lot with a derelict farmhouse.

The property sits on Daffodil Lane across from Brent and Becky’s and would be identified on future land use maps by the name Bayside Rural Resources.

It is not clear at this time what types of businesses would fill the four shops. Planners will be asked tonight to authorize staff to schedule a public hearing on the request for the first available date once the application review is completed. ...
