Voting already underway in Virginia

Absentee voting is already underway and the deadline for residents to register to vote or for voters to make changes to their information in time for the November general election is not far off.

In-person absentee voting began Friday and continues until Nov. 3. The last day to request an absentee ballot by mail is Oct. 30 and the last day to register to vote is Oct. 15, according to Gloucester registrar Bobbi Morgan.

Polls will be open on Election Day in Gloucester, Mathews and the rest of Virginia from 6 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 6. Statewide, voters will be asked to choose from three candidates for U.S. Senate, as well as weigh in on two proposed amendments to the state constitution.

In Gloucester, Mathews and the rest of Virginia’s 1st Congressional District, voters will pick between incumbent Rep. Rob Wittman (R-Montross) and his Democratic opponent, Vangie Williams.
