Virginia Lee Kelley, age 90, of Mathews, Virginia, passed on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at Riverside Walter Reed Hospital in Gloucester, Virginia.

Virginia was born on Feb. 16, 1932 to William Rome and Nora Lee Hudgins.

For 33 years she was a devoted wife to the late James Robert Kelley; she worked 25 years for Bendix Corporation and Siemens; was a founding member and officer of Mathews Continental Societies, Inc.; and she was a lifelong member of the Antioch Baptist Church, serving as head of Missionaries, member of the Usher Board, and the Homecoming Committee, and donated 20 years of volunteer service with Hands Across Mathews.

Preceding her in death was her husband, James Kelley; her parents, William and Nora; brothers, Lester and William, and grandson, Steven L. Hobley. She leaves to cherish her memories her children, Cynthia Hobley, Janice Burgess and James Foster; grandchildren, Janelle Burgess Miller, Jamie Foster, Jamila Perritt (Donald), Damon L. Hobley (Melissa), Jennifer Foster, Joy Green (Kimberly) and Jessica Foster; great-grandchildren, Steven D. Hobley, Damon A. Hobley, Miles Perritt, Daniel Hobley, Joshua Miller, Clay Green and Jonah Green.

A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 21, 2022, at Antioch Baptist Church, 110 Antioch Road, Susan, Va. Burial was held in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Antioch Church/Rosenwald School, P.O. Box 124, Susan, Va. 23163.
