VIRGINIA ALLEAN DIGGS CONWAY

Virginia Allean Diggs Conway, age 92, of Hayes, died at her home on Sunday, May 15, 2022. Virginia had a smile for everyone she met and was affectionately known as “Grandma.” She loved her flowers, fishing, and working with her husband on the Oyster Boats. In her later years, she enjoyed going to the beach and playing bingo at St. Therese Catholic Church; she was a member of Providence Baptist Church.

Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Christopher Columbus Conway III; children, Virginia Mae Conway Fields, Richard Lawrence Conway, Robert Christopher Conway; parents, Allean May Gregory Diggs and William Henry Diggs; brothers, Hilary, Quinton (Frankie), Samuel (Doris), Clevard (Eva), and sister, Christine Rowe (Bernard Lee).

She is survived by her daughter-in-law and caregiver, Linda Kolano Conway, and son-in-law, W. Howard Fields; grandsons, Wyndom Eli Fields, Christopher Anthony Conway, Craig Joseph Conway (Melissa); great-grandson, Evan Richard Conway; sister-in-law, Helen Cox, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Special thanks to Dr. Dait and Dr. West; nurses, Amanda B, Amanda G, Trudy; aides, Anjie, Sam, Ethel, Stephenie, and all the Walter Reed Hospice Staff for the excellent care they have given. An extra special thanks to her caregiver and friend, Emma Osborne.

The family will receive friends at Hogg Funeral Home on Saturday, May 21, 2022, from 9 until 9:45 a.m., followed by a 10 a.m. funeral service in the chapel, conducted by Father Gregory Kandt. Interment will be held in Providence Baptist Church Cemetery.
