Utilities department moves into renovated office space

The former health department building on Carriage Court has been renovated for use as the new Gloucester County Utilities Department.

Now called Gloucester County Office Building #4, the building has approximately 2,300 square feet on the ground floor in use, said public works director Garrey Curry. There are no current plans for the basement that is not handicapped accessible, he said, but that part of the building is being stripped to bare walls to help prevent moisture problems.

Before buildings and grounds crew moved furniture recently from the utility department’s former site in Gloucester County Office Building #3 on Main Street, Curry said a number of repairs and renovations—many done in-house—were made to the building that housed the Gloucester Health Department for many years. The health department was relocated to rental space at Main Street Center about 3½ years ago.
