Troy Woody Brown, a U.S. Navy veteran, of Hayes, entered his heavenly home on Jan. 7, 2022 at the age of 90. Woody was a graduate of Botetourt High School and retired from civil service, Naval Weapons Station. He was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church, former member of Beech Grove Baptist Church, an active member and past Master of Botetourt Masonic Lodge No. 7, AF & AM, Gloucester, Khedive Temple of the Shrine, AAONMS in Chesapeake, serving as Potentate in 1992. An avid hunter, member of Cumnor Hunt Club and great jokester willing to lend a helping hand. Parents, Boyd and Bertha Oliver Brown; siblings, Eunice Jenkins, Adell Jenkins, Hattie Christensen, Audrey Oliver, Mahlon Horsley, Milton Brown, Nicholas Brown, and Jones Brown preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Elizabeth L. Brown; two sons, Jeff and Gregg Brown; a grandson, Stetson Nye, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and numerous friends. The family received friends on Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2022, from 11:30 a.m.-12:45 p.m. at Hogg Funeral Home. The funeral service began at 1 p.m. in the chapel, conducted by Pastor Art Wolz. Interment followed in Rosewell Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
