Tour de Chesapeake returns to Mathews on May 18

Mathews County, along with the Mathews Visitor Center and Mathews Land Conservancy, are teaming up to host the 21st annual Tour de Chesapeake cycling event, which will be held on Saturday, May 18.

The event will welcome cyclists from around the state and beyond for a weekend of flat scenic cycling, delicious local eats, toe-tapping music, and nice, down-home folks to help with whatever is needed, a release stated.

The tour is presented by Riverside Walter Reed Hospital, as well as Bernadette La Casse of IsaBell K. Horsley Real Estate, Chesapeake Bank, and Mathews Economic Development Authority. “We couldn’t do this event without these wonderful sponsors who believe in providing healthy, affordable activities for the whole family to enjoy,” event director Lynda Smith Greve said.
