Rappahannock Community College Educational Foundation’s Rappahannock Institute for Lifelong Learning will host a course on the history of medicine on Sept. 22 and 29 and Oct. 6 from 1-3 p.m. each day at Christ Church Parish Hall in Saluda. Paul Fairbrother, who will instruct the course, graduated from Oxford University in England with degrees in physiology and chemistry.

Fairbrother plans to discuss the evolution of medical theory, with reference to inheritance, infection and cancer. He will illustrate his points with stories about the illnesses of George III, Jane Austen, and the inbred royal families of Europe, according to an RCC spokesman.
