GCPS top performer in region, state

Following the release of 2025-2026 Standards of Learning pass rates by the Virginia Department of Education and the 2026 Virginia School Survey of Climate and Working Conditions by the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services, Gloucester County Public Schools is showing that it is a top performer across academics, employee commitment, and school safety across the region and state. GCPS exceeded the Virginia average in reading, math and science. The district posted pass rates of 78.8 percent in reading, 82.4 percent in math and 78.8 percent in science, compared with statewide rates of 74 percent, 73 percent and 71 percent, respectively. In Region III, Gloucester ranks first in math, second in reading, and third in science.
