Ray Agtay has been named Volunteer of the Year by the Virginia Health Care Association. He has volunteered at Walter Reed Post Acute, Gloucester, for more than 15 years. Julie Boothe, life enrichment director at the center, nominated Agtay for the honor, stating, “Ray Agtay is an exceptional and dedicated volunteer at Walter Reed Post Acute whose impact has been felt consistently over an extraordinary 15-year period. He actively participates in a wide range of activities, including Bingo, gardening, worship services, community events, and shopping trips, helping to create engaging and meaningful experiences for residents.”Agtay lives in Gloucester and has volunteered at the center three days a week, Boothe said. In the nomination, Boothe said, “Known as a true ‘ray’ of sunshine, Ray brings positivity, enthusiasm, and warmth into the facility every single day. Residents genuinely look forward to seeing him, and his presence significantly enhances the overall atmosphere of the community....
