Susan Marie Quinzel, 73, of Gloucester, entered heaven on Monday, May 16, 2022, at her home with her family by her side. Susan was born on Dec. 18, 1948 to the late John Paul and Dorothy Ann Cote. She grew up and raised her family in New Jersey before retiring to Gloucester in 2007. A loving wife, mother, and friend, Susan was a kind and generous lady who cared for others above herself. She loved children and dedicated her life as an elementary school teacher and principal in the Montville School System in New Jersey. Susan had a passionate love of reading, teaching, and nature.

Susan was heavily involved in her community and always wanted to help make a difference. She was an active member of St. Therese Catholic Church and donated much of her time leading the Bread for Life Community Food Pantry. Under Susan and her husband Bob’s leadership, Bread for Life became one of the largest food pantries in Hampton Roads.

Susan is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Bob; her sister Maryann; children Kristen, Steven and his wife Federica; Gary and his wife Andrea, and three grandchildren, Jack, Rebecca, and Avery. On Friday, May 20, 2022, a funeral mass will be held at St. Therese Catholic Church at 11 a.m., followed by a reception in the parish hall.
