Supporting GUEST

GUEST—the Gloucester United Emergency Shelter Team—received an outpouring of support recently. Sisters in the Spirit Ministries delivered $650 worth of items from the GUEST Amazon Wishlist to help the homeless this winter. GUEST chairman Bill Parks, second from left, and executive director the Rev. Kristie Askew, at right, are shown receiving the donations from Barbara Foster, Katrina Brown and Zannette McMillen (from left) at the Day Shelter & Resource Center. In bottom photo, the staff and customers at Ann’s Diner collected blankets, coats and toys for the homeless this Christmas. The Rev. Askew is shown here receiving the gifts from Jessica Gardner, an employee of Ann’s. GUEST is a coalition of religious and community organizations that provide hypothermic shelter during the winter months. The program operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week during the winter months to provide a day shelter and a night shelter for the homeless in the Middle Peninsula and Northern Neck area.
