Supervisors to consider Station #1 needs Tuesday night

The Gloucester County Board of Supervisors will meet with leaders of the Gloucester Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad, Inc., Tuesday night to discuss the need to renovate or replace Station #1 in the Court House. The meeting will begin at 6:30 in the colonial courthouse.

GVFRS chief J.D. Clements recently expressed that the department continues to outgrow its current facility at the corner of Main Street and Walker Avenue. He said his department is leaning toward construction of a new facility rather than renovating the current building in order to save costs and continue its uninterrupted service.

Supervisors will also hold a public hearing, beginning at 7 o’clock, on a rezoning application by David and Joyce Bristow to allow for the development of future business opportunities on property they own at Hayes between Route 17 and the Abingdon Heights subdivision, just north of Powhatan Drive.
