Supervisors to consider increase in compensation

Members of the Gloucester County Board of Supervisors may see a change in their compensation in the coming weeks. The board is scheduled to adopt a resolution Tuesday night during its meeting in the colonial courthouse to establish annual salaries for sitting members. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the colonial courthouse.

Currently, the annual salary of the board chairman is $8,800 and the other six members each receive $7,000. The last time the salaries were modified was in April 2005, becoming effective Jan. 1, 2006.

In other news, the Virginia Department of Transportation and the board of supervisors will hold a joint public hearing beginning at 7 p.m. to receive public comment on the proposed Secondary Six-Year Plan for fiscal years 2020 through 2025 and the Secondary System Construction Budget for Fiscal Year 2020-2021.
