Structure fire

Members of the Gloucester Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad, Inc., responded to this home in the 6100 block of Carter Hill Street near Pinero just before noon Saturday. When firefighters arrived, the 3,600-square-foot home was fully involved in fire. According to GVFRS chief J.D. Clements, a neighbor called in reporting hearing a loud boom and seeing flames through the woods soon after. At first, Clements said firefighters were afraid people were inside the home, as several vehicles were parked in the driveway. However, the Gloucester Sheriff’s Office was soon able to confirm the owners were not home at the time of the blaze. Clements said the cause of the fire is still under investigations, but preliminary information shows the cause of the fire was electrical in nature. He said GVFRS responded with 33 personnel and four engines.
