Structure fire

Members of the Gloucester Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad, Inc., responded to a structure fire near the 9500 block of George Washington Memorial Highway just north of Riverside Walter Reed Hospital shortly after 2 p.m. Saturday. When first responders arrived at the scene, they saw smoke coming from the eaves of the home. The fire was brought under control within 30 minutes. However, significant damage was done to the interior of the home in order for firefighters to gain access to the fire, according to GVFRS chief J.D. Clements. Three adults and a child were inside the home at the time of the fire, but all escaped without injury. Clements said the cause of the fire is still under investigation. However, Clements suspects it was electrical in nature, as it originated just above the electrical panel.
