Storytelling at Machicomoco

Professional storyteller Katrina White Brown, center, is surrounded by fellow park rangers at Machicomoco State Park following the debut of her program on Algonquin and African American fables, “When the Animals Spoke.” The audience was enchanted by her dramatic recounting of timeless “lessons” through fables, native to two of the cultures who inhabited Machicomoco throughout the centuries. The free program will be presented again at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 27, at the Interpretive Center, Machicomoco. Pictured above are, from left, Emily Harlan, Courtney Kirberger, Brown, Riley McMillan and Gaby Sandoval.
