Steve Homer Proffitt, age 77, of Gloucester, passed away at his home on Dec. 5, 2021, surrounded by family. Steve was born on Dec. 13, 1943, to the late William Lewis Proffitt and Margie Clements Rowe Proffitt. He is survived by his loving wife, Virginia; daughter, Stephanie; granddaughter, Amber, and great-grandson, Maverick. In his free time, Steve could be found at the casino, on a cruise, at a “cruise-in” or traveling and spending time with his beloved family. He was a member of the “No Name Car Club” and loved his 1960 Ford Starliner. The family will receive friends on Sunday, Dec. 19, 2021, from 2-4 p.m. at Hogg Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date in the spring. In memory of Steve, the family asks that friends plant a tree or make memorial contributions to the Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society at P.O. Box 385, Gloucester, Va. 23061.
