State DMV computer outage continues

A statewide computer outage, which has lasted a week so far and counting, has presented an inconvenience to Virginia motorists seeking to renew their licenses.

Driver’s licenses and ID cards were not processed at the state Department of Motor Vehicle’s 74 customer service centers last Wednesday, according to a release from the DMV. An estimated recovery time for the computer system is not known, so customers are encouraged to visit the DMV website at www.dmvNOW.com or call 804-497-7100 before visiting a DMV office this week.

DMV is updating important service messages online and on its phone system. The outage only impacts driver’s licenses and ID cards. All other transactions are being processed normally at DMV.
