Smith appointed to JDR court

The General Assembly voted last Thursday to appoint Gloucester Commonwealth’s Attorney Holly B. Smith as a Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court judge in the 9th Judicial District. 

The appointment is for a six-year term beginning July 1. The 9th Judicial District includes Gloucester, Mathews, Middlesex, New Kent, York, Charles City, James City/Williamsburg, King William and King and Queen.

“It has truly been my honor to serve the citizens of Gloucester,” Smith said. “I am committed to a life of public service and hope that this will be just another way I can continue to serve.” 

“I got my start as a prosecutor on a Special Victims Unit team in the Newport News Commonwealth Attorney’s Office handling crimes committed by juveniles, child sexual assault and abuse and domestic violence cases. So, I am humbled by the opportunity to return to the work that began my career.”
