SKYLER ANN MERENDA

Skyler Ann Merenda went to be with the angels on Aug. 15, 2022 at 18 years young. Born in Gloucester, Va., on Oct. 15, 2003, to proud parents, Megan Galford and Daniel Merenda. A few years later, Skyler’s sister and best friend, Madison Merenda, would complete their immediate family.

Skyler enjoyed many things, but her passion lay in spending time with family and friends, reading, chorus, church, NJROTC, and volunteering at local non-profit organizations. Most importantly, Skyler had a deep love for her family, and cherished the time they would spend together at the beach, camping, skiing, and enjoying family dinners together.
Skyler will always be remembered for her gentleness, grace, and kindness towards others. Skyler was the essence of joyfulness and life. She always seemed to look out for others and would put others before herself. She touched the lives of so many; our beloved, happy, beautiful and funny young lady was the star of our hearts and leaves us smiling through our tears. Skyler was joy personified.

Skyler will continue to stay with us all through memories and the laughs she bestowed upon us all. We will see her everywhere; a little girl learning to ski, a family setting up their campsite, cousins building sandcastles at the beach, two sisters braiding each other’s hair, a mom and daughter shopping for new school clothes, the NJROTC marching in the community parades, the chorus concerts at the local schools, teens embarking on youth group trips with their churches, and a volunteer eager to help others.

Beloved daughter of Megan Galford and Daniel Merenda (Billie Carscadden), and the best big sister to Madison Merenda.

Sorrowfully missed by all who knew her, especially grandparents, Gordon and Sherrie Parker, Timothy Galford and Iris Lassiter, Dan and Marsha Merenda. Also, her aunts and uncles, Melissa and Dave Gretten (favorite auntie and uncle), Cassie and Matt Bercot, Christine Brunson, Michael and Laura Brunson, Carlie Prater and Brian Cerny, Kristin and Jonathan Sanders, Jennifer Andrews, Melissa Parker, and numerous cousins that she always looked out for and who adored Skyler beyond words.

Family and friends will be received at Bellamy United Methodist Church, Gloucester, for a celebration of her life on Saturday, Aug. 20, 2022, at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Skyler Merenda Scholarship Fund at Chesapeake Bank.
