Shannon Hanson, 55, has announced her candidacy for the York District seat of the Gloucester County Board of Supervisors in the upcoming November election. A native of Gloucester, Hanson has spent several decades volunteering in her community.
The York District seat is currently held by Phil Bazzani, who is not seeking reelection. Hanson, an independent, is running for the seat unopposed.
“I wanted to be a part of the big solutions,” said Hanson about her candidacy.
She has volunteered in her community in many ways, including with the Gloucester Daffodil Festival, Girl Scouts and Gloucester County Public Schools. While her children were in school, she was an active chaperone and a dedicated reading program volunteer.
“Education has always been a huge concern for me,” said Hanson.
Hanson said she would like to be a voice and platform for change in the community.
