SARAH ‘SALLY’ ELSIE KEAYS WATTERS

Sarah “Sally” Elsie Keays Watters, aged 69, of Gloucester, Virginia, died on Saturday, July 2, 2022. Born to Bill and Tense Keays in Pennsylvania and later raised in Iowa, she received her teaching degree from West Chester State College, Pa. Sarah went on to teach for the Gloucester County School District for 29 years as an elementary school teacher at T.C. Walker, Botetourt, and Abingdon. An avid reader herself, she said her greatest feeling of achievement came from sharing the joy of books with her kids. Sarah was a lifetime member of The Twelve and an active hostess to the Big Tea and Small Tea Groups. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Francis E. “Frank” Watters, and her children, Thomas and Maria Watters, as well as her sister, Martha Keays, and family, Rafael, Eva, and Diego Olaya, and nephew, Simon Keays. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the family has elected to have a celebration of life service at a later date. Contributions in Sarah’s memory are encouraged to be directed to cancer research and support to those battling cancer or any other cause to make this a better world.
