The Mathews Ruritan Club presented two awards at its Jan. 8 meeting, held at Bethel United Methodist Church, Onemo. The first, photo at left, was its 2018 Citizen of the Year Award. Ron Lambert, at right, was recognized for his many contributions to Mathews County as a member of the Mathews Volunteer Rescue Squad and other community service organizations. Sonny Richardson, the club’s Business and Professions chairman, is shown giving him the award.
