Two bridges in Mathews and one in Middlesex will be restricted to one-lane traffic from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on specified days next week while the Virginia Department of Transportation conducts safety inspections.

Both Mathews bridges are located on Route 14 near the Gloucester County line. The bridge over North End Branch will restrict westbound motorists to one lane on Friday. On Monday, the bridge over the Burke Mill Stream at the county line will restrict traffic to one lane.

On Tuesday, southbound motorists will be restricted to one lane on the Route 17 bridge over Dragon Run in Middlesex County.

Flaggers will direct traffic through the work zones, said Tina Bundy, a spokesperson for VDOT.
