Road issues dominate Gloucester board meeting

Transportation and road improvement projects were the main topics of discussion at this week’s Gloucester County Board of Supervisors meeting.

Supervisors heard two presentations in regard to Gloucester’s continued infrastructural growth during Tuesday’s meeting, which was held in the colonial courthouse.

Joyce McGowan, Residency Administrator for Virginia Department of Transportation, gave a quarterly update on the current and upcoming projects in Gloucester County. The second presentation, from Carol Rizzio, was on a six-year improvement program.

McGowan presented updates on transportation projects that were either completed or are upcoming. One, was that they had spent the last two years reconfiguring the software of the traffic signals from Glenns to Gloucester Point. The signals haven’t been coordinated yet to function dependently, and they are working on a plan to make the signals more streamlined.
