Road cleanup

Volunteers from the Gloucester Ruritan Club participated in the Virginia Department of Transportation’s Adopt-A-Highway program by cleaning up a designated section of Farys Mill Road. Among those taking part in the Aug. 20 trash pickup were, from left, Benny Leith, Barbara Bauer, Janet Leigh, Henry Thompson (chair of the club’s Environment Committee) and Rachel Serio. Not pictured is Harry Thomas who spent four hours cleaning up from Route 17 to the team’s starting point.
