Richard “Dick” Speakman, age 78, of Hoschton, Georgia, passed away on Friday, June 3, 2022.

Dick was a devoted husband of 56 years to Irene G. Speakman, formerly of Langeloth, Pennsylvania, and a loving father to his children, Richard Speakman Jr. of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Lisa Speakman of Blue Ridge, Georgia.

He served his country for over 37 years in the U.S. Air Force as both an enlisted service member and then as a civilian for the Department of Defense where he retired as the Director of the Air Force Engineering and Technical Services Worldwide (AFETS).

He received the Outstanding Civilian Career Services Award for 37 years of dedicated Federal Service. He had a B.S. in Business Management from the University of South Carolina and an MBA from Golden Gate University.

He was predeceased by his father, Robert Speakman; mother, Hazel (Polly) Polick, and sister, Nan Speakman. He is survived by his wife, Irene; son, Richard; daughter, Lisa, and his brothers and sister, Tom Speakman, Hank Speakman, Bill Speakman and Kathy Pettitt.

A private immediate family service will be held at Flanigan Funeral Home in Buford, Georgia, on June 16, 2022, followed by an interment at Georgia National Cemetery.
